Christian Resource Center

Isaiah 6:8 “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.’”

This familiar passage reflects the willing spirit and sense of God’s direction by the founder of the Christian Resource Center. Looking to “semi-retire,” God placed a real burden in the heart of Thomas H. Moffit, Jr., a recent addition to the Beckley area and new owner of WOAY Radio AM 860, to establish the Christian Resource Center. Placing the radio station under the Christian Resource Center, Mr. Moffit derives no salary from either entity and has a burden to obey the call and vision God has given him to establish what some say could be a “model” for other towns and cities across America.

The Christian Resource Center (CRC) has now become a resource for pastors and their churches in Southern WV to turn to for information and resource materials. From the beginning, the primary goal has been to aid in spiritual growth and the furtherance of personal and church ministries. In just the first full year of ministry, the CRC was involved in educational opportunities through Bible studies, seminars, workshops, and conferences. Faith-based guidance on personal issues, including finances, addictions and other relevant matters are an important part of the services the CRC while pursuing partnerships with local churches and ministries.

As an information center, the CRC maintains confidential databases compiling information on local and regional churches and ministries in the area. These databases will continue to be an ongoing project with updates and revisions as needed. As data is compiled, churches and individuals can be networked to those materials, resources, and ministries where needs can be met or assistance given. As inquiries are made, information not already available may be pursued if the information is viewed as part of the Center’s core mission.

There are opportunities for pastors to get together on an ongoing and regular basis. The CRC sponsors such things as a monthly pastors breakfast. These gatherings will be for fellowship, encouragement and the possibility to foster cooperative efforts throughout and on behalf of our communities. We feel this is important in any community’s spiritual growth. This past Fall, the CRC sponsored a Pastors Appreciation Banquet in which pastors and their spouses were entertained, fed, and encouraged in their faith with special guest Dr. Alex McFarland, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary.

The CRC is also sponsoring an on-going leadership seminar series. Dan Hayden, Frank Turek, Howard Dayton, and Norman Geisler represent just of few of the many well know Bible teachers that will be brought to Southern WV three or four times a year compliments of the CRC. In addition, there are opportunities for pastors to attend seminars and conferences outside our region from time to time. These are offered by nationally known ministries and cover various topics.

Area wide community Bible-study groups are another goal for the CRC. Reaching out to “un-churched” or “under-churched” individuals in partnership with local churches is among the core mission goals of the Center. Anyone wanting to begin a specific group, i.e.: executives, young parents, college students, etc., the CRC helps to facilitate, organize and promote such meetings; as well as, assist in identifying leaders/teachers to get them started. The Business by the Book study for business leaders in partnership with Crown Financial Ministries is one example of how the CRC is fulfilling this goal.

Pray for The Christian Resource Center as we continue to plan for the future so that we can help you grow in the faith.
